American Red Cross offers a training program that is designed to provide students with the skill set that they will need to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. This program is offered in both a daytime schedule, as well as an evening training option. The combined curriculum totals 50 course hours and includes both classroom training, as well as hands-on practice. The classes alternate between phlebotomy and EKG (daytime classes can be completed in 6 weeks; evening classes can be completed in 9 weeks.) The 100-hour clinical can be completed in 2 ½-3 weeks following the first portion of the curriculum.

In order to be accepted into this training option, students must: be at least 18 years of age, leave a $300.00 deposit to hold their seat in the class, have current photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport, or state issued ID card), a background check, and more.



Bunker Hill Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program

At Bunker Hill Community College, students can receive the training that will enable them to seek entry-level employment as a phlebotomist. The curriculum of this option consists of 17 total credits, and can be completed in 3 semesters. Some of the courses covered by this option include: Medical Terminology, Computer or Office Administration Course, Communication Skills for Health Care, Practicum/Phlebotomy Tech, Practicum Seminar/Allied Health, and more.

In order to enroll in this program, students must undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check as well as a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. In addition, individuals must have a high school diploma or GED, they must attend an information session and interview with program staff, they must provide evidence of health insurance and complete a health form, and more.



Coastal Career Academy

The phlebotomy training program offered at Coastal Career Academy is an option that is offered during the evening two nights a week. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm-9:30pm, the classroom portion of training is offered for 10 weeks. The clinical can be taken after the initial portion of training, and the class fills quickly so please keep this in mind when considering this choice.

The program offered here totals 200 hours and upon the successful completion of the program, students become eligible to seek employment as an entry-level phlebotomist. Students can pay for this training option in numerous ways, and to build credit, they offer the option of opening a Discover Student Card to pay off schooling. Health Care Training Services

Health Care Training Services offers a phlebotomy training program that is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the medical field. This particular option consists of 200 total hours and provides students with an intense training curriculum focused on venipuncture and its practice. The curriculum is divided between classroom learning and clinical experience that provides students with an opportunity to utilize the skills that they have learned in a functioning medical environment.

The curriculum is divided as follows: 80 hours of hands-on classroom training and 120 hours of clinical externship. Upon successfully completing the training, graduates become eligible to sit for a national certification exam which is offered by the institution several times per year. The goal of this training program is to prepare students for the responsibilities that they will encounter when they begin working in the healthcare industry.

Health Training Center offers two separate training options for those that are interested in studying phlebotomy. The first is a combination program entitled Cardio-Phlebotomy Technician, to teach students both EKG skills and phlebotomy skills. Upon the successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate. Students can take the EKG class and the Phlebotomy class either in the same semester or in two semesters.

In addition, this institution also offers a phlebotomy technician certificate program. According to their website, topics such as veni-puncture procedures, blood collection and quality assurance will be covered.

The program is a college-approved certificate program which focuses on teaching individuals about venipuncture, its practice, safety procedures, etc.

In order to apply, applicants must possess a high school or GED equivalent, and keep in mind that preference will be given to students with a minimum grade of “C.” In addition, students must carry malpractice liability insurance and they must also interview with the program director/instructor, and more.

The curriculum consists of 7 total credits which are divided into ‘Principles and Methods of Phlebotomy’ and ‘Clinical Practicum Phlebotomy.’ This training approach ensures that students will receive the classroom training that they will need as well as the hands-on practice that will help to give them experience and confidence.

The Medical Professional Institute offers a phlebotomy/EKG training program that is designed to prepare students for entry level employment in the medical field. This phlebotomy training curriculum was created to train students to collect human specimens such as blood and urine. In addition to the classroom training, students must also complete 100 hours of clinical externship and they must complete 100 successful venipunctures to be eligible to sit for a national certification exam. Northern Essex Community College offers a phlebotomy training program that is designed to provide students with the skill set that they will need to seek employment as an entry-level phlebotomist. The certificate consists of 18 total credits and all courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher in order for students to graduate. Some courses include: English Composition 1, Medical Terminology, Phlebotomy and Phlebotomy Externship, Healthcare Law and Ethics, and more.

Phlebotomy and EKG Training Program provides a training program that is designed to prepare students for a career as a phlebotomist. The course is offered one day a week and can be completed in 14 weeks. Also, students can take an 8 week long Phlebotomy Refresher Course.

The curriculum of the phlebotomy training option includes basic phlebotomy skills and knowledge as well as training in skills such as urinalysis, blood-pressure measurement, the taking of throat cultures, and more. Phlebotomy Services offers a 3-day phlebotomy training program that is designed to prepare students for a career in the medical field. The curriculum of this option is divided into an online portion and a hands-on portion. Days 1 and 2 of training can be completed on the Internet, and consists of lessons and quizzes that can be completed at your own pace. The third day is a hands-on training day that can be completed at the location designated by the company. This day can only be completed when students have successfully completed the first two days, and it is included to provide students with hands-on practice utilizing the skills that they learned during the online training.

In order to be accepted into this program, students must have a high school diploma or GED and upon successfully completing both portions of training, students will receive a certificate of completion via email.



Quincy College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Training Program

At Quincy College, students can receive the skill set that they will need to pursue entry-level employment in the health care industry. This curriculum is designed to teach students skills such as the following: performing venipunctures and capillary skin punctures, performing standard procedures in the collection, processing, and distribution of lab specimens, describing and recognizing safety standards, and more.

In order to apply, students must have a high school diploma or GED, official college transcripts, a $30.00 application fee, immunization records, and more. Some classes included in the curriculum are Orientation to Health Care, Phlebotomy, Phlebotomy Lab, Interpersonal Communication, and more. In order to apply, students must have satisfactory health and immunization records, and students must receive a grade of “C” or higher in all mandated courses to successfully complete training and receive the certificate of completion.



Quinsigamond Community College

Quinsigamond Community College offers a phlebotomy training program that is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills that they will need to pursue a career as an entry-level phlebotomist, and it also teaches students the basic skills associated with becoming an EKG technician. The phlebotomy training portion utilizes both classroom learning as well as hands-on training to ensure that students feel confident and efficient in venipuncture. Students must perform at 75% or better on a pass/fail basis, and upon the successful completion of training, graduates become eligible to sit for a national licensure exam.

The fee for this training option totals $1,295.00; however students will be responsible for purchasing the required textbooks (2). In order to apply, students must have a high school diploma or GED, strong English skills, and a completed health information form.



South Coast Training LLC.

At South Coast Training LLC., students can attend a phlebotomy training program that is designed to provide students with the skill set that they will need to pursue a career in the medical field. The course consists of 60 phlebotomy classroom hours as well as 60 clinical hours, which gives individuals an opportunity to utilize the skills that they have learned.

In order to apply students must have the proper immunization records, and in addition there is a $150.00 application fee, and students must also have a high school diploma or GED. The tuition of this training program is $850.00 and financial aid is available for those that need the assistance. Also, keep in mind that the textbook is not included in this fee, but it should cost no more than an additional $65.00.

The curriculum of this option covers topics such as: safety and confidentiality, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, infection control, capillary puncture, quality control and processing of specimens, and more.

In order to apply to this program, students must: be at least 18 years of age, successfully pass a criminal background check, have all required immunizations, and have a high school diploma or GED.
