Students must receive a grade of “C” or better in all pre-clinical courses to attend the clinical portion of training. The program curriculum is designed so that the pre-clinical and the clinical portion can both be completed in one semester each (4 months per semester) and includes a total of 26 credit hours.

Upon the successful completion of both portions of training, graduates become eligible to sit for a national certification exam which, if passed, can help to improve their employability as they begin to apply for jobs.



Crescent City Career Institute

Classes are offered two evenings per week from 6pm-8pm so please ensure that your availability can accommodate this schedule. Students must also complete an externship, during which time they must complete 50 hours and 100 successful sticks.

In order to apply to this training option, applicants must have a current valid photo ID, a high school diploma or GED, a resume, immunization records, and more. Additionally, students must complete a nationwide criminal background check which costs $43.50 and the site provides a link to the preferred service that you can use.

Delgado Community College offers a phlebotomy training program that is designed to provide students with the diverse skill set that they will need to become professionals in the healthcare industry. The curriculum can be completed in one semester and consists of 12 total credit hours. The program is divided into both lecture courses and a phlebotomy practicum.

The last three weeks of the semester students will participate in a phlebotomy practicum and will be expected to work 8 hours a day. Please ensure that your availability will allow for this requirement.
