In Training Inc. College of Adult Education

At In Training College, students can train for a career in the healthcare industry. The curriculum is offered through 64 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 120 hours of clinical experience at a local hospital laboratory. During the clinical experience, students must successfully complete a minimum of 100 successful venipunctures and 25 successful dermal punctures.

The classroom portion meets on Monday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for 16 weeks, and the clinical sessions meet on Monday-Friday for three consecutive weeks and some early morning hours will be required.

CPR training is available for an additional $50.00 fee, and students can also choose to become TB certified (to give and read TB tests) during their clinical training for an additional $50.00 fee.

Upon the successful completion of training, students become eligible to sit for a national certification exam which can improve their employability as they begin to search for a job.



Indiana School of Phlebotomy

Indiana School of Phlebotomy offers two programs related phlebotomy: one is phlebotomy and the other is accelerated phlebotomy.

The phlebotomy program is a 7-week program, including 6-week lecture, and one week of clinical externship.

The accelerated phlebotomy program is a 4-week program.

Ivy Tech Community College offers a phlebotomy training option that can prepare students for a career in the healthcare industry. Upon the successful completion of this program graduates will become eligible to sit for a national certification exam through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Additionally, students that complete the training will receive a Certificate of Completion from Ivy Tech Community College.

The curriculum consists of a total 17 credit hours and is included in the Health Care Support program offered by the college. This college has numerous locations so it could be a convenient choice for individuals living in different areas of Indiana.

The phlebotomy training program offered at Vincennes University is a 15-week training program that consists of 90 total classroom hours. This is a non-credit option, so no credit hours will be rewarded to students. Topics covered include: anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, blood collection procedures, and more.

Upon the successful completion of training, students become eligible to sit for a national certification exam which can serve to further improve their employability. Additionally, students that have successfully completed training will also receive a VUJC Certificate of Completion.

The total tuition of this option is $1,349.00 which includes the cost of textbooks. The tuition does not however, cover the cost of the required Hepatitis B vaccine which costs approximately $120.00. Also keep in mind that traditional grants and scholarships are typically not applicable for non-credit programs.
