The Phlebotomy certificate program at the Community College of Philadelphia is a one semester program. The course includes two hours of lecture, three hours of student lab, and eight hours of a critical rotation every week. The clinical rotation will be held in a hospital or an outpatient facility.
This program is a great way to get started in the health care field. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to take state and national certification exams and become certified Phlebotomists.
In order to apply to this program, students must have a high school diploma or GED, English 101 readiness, the results from a physical exam including immunization history, verification of medical insurance, and a negative criminal background check, child abuse clearance and a negative drug screening.

Star Career Academy offers a Phlebotomy training program on a variety of schedules. The course may be completed during the day or the night, and new classes are starting up all the time.
This Phlebotomy course is designed for students who already have some background in the medical field. The course will put an emphasis on learning Phlebotomy techniques like venipuncture, capillary puncture, urine sampling, specimen labeling, and transportation and isolation procedures. Students must also learn how to effectively communicate with other health care professionals and how to work as part of a health care team.
During this course, students will perform basic tests like blood chemistry, blood typing, urinalysis, pregnancy tests and more. Students will be required to perform 25 venipuncture draws and 5 capillary draws before completing the course.
Tuition for this course is $1,035 and the cost of certification is included.
