This is a 120 hour Phlebotomy program that offers classes on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm – 10pm.
Students will be trained in both theory and practical application. Courses will include medical terminology, law and ethics, safety procedures and employability skills. Students will also complete a phlebotomy practicum in a local health care setting.
Successful completion of this program will prepare students to work as entry-level phlebotomists in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices, laboratories and other similar health care settings.
Cincinnati State
Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Certificate (PBTC)

Cincinnati State offers just this type of training.
This 90 hour program will include didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences. Students will gain the proper skills and knowledge needed to perform venipunctures. Courses will include terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, and specimen hands-on practice.
This program can be completed in three months. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm – 9:30pm. The cost of the course is $1,599 and includes the cost of textbooks.
Upon successful completion of this program students will be prepared to take the National Heatlhcareer Association certification examination to gain licensure as a phlebotomist.
Columbus State Community College

Students can complete this phlebotomy program in two semesters. Training will include theory and skills practice in both the classroom and laboratory settings. During the first semester students will learn theories associated with collecting blood as well as practice the skill in the lab. During the first and second semesters students will take part in a clinical experience in an inpatient clinical setting.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded a certificate of completion from the college. They will also be eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination to become a nationally certified phlebotomist.
Cuyahoga Community College

This is a skills-oriented, short-term training program that will lead to certification. Students will be trained in the proper ways and techniques for drawing and collecting blood as well as transporting and analyzing it. Course topics for this program include blood collection, special blood collecting techniques, medical terminology, medical ethics, asepsis, and human biology. Training will take place in a classroom and laboratory and will include theory and hands-on practice and experiences. Students will also complete and eight week clinical rotation in a hospital or medical clinic.
This phlebotomy program is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Edison State Community College

Edison Community College, located in Piqua, Ohio, offers a Phlebotomy program that will lead to certification.
This program will teach students the proper techniques in drawing and collecting blood from patients for the purpose of analysis. They will also be trained in other basic skills that are necessary for a phlebotomist, such as basic computer usage, knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
This is a 14.5 hour program that can be completed in one semester. Courses for this program include Introduction to Health Care, Phlebotomy and Laboratory Techniques, Documenting Processing or Personal Computer Applications and Medical Terminology. Students will also complete a Phlebotomy Internship Seminar as well as a Phlebotomy Internship. This is a 115 hour internship where students will complete 100 unaided blood collections.
Knox Technical Center

This Phlebotomy Certificate program can be completed in two semesters and is 19 credit hours. During the first semester of this program students will complete courses such as First Aid and Safety, Body Structure and Function, Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Science Technology, Basic Laboratory Techniques and College 101. During the second semester students will take courses in Interpersonal Communication and Medical Terminology as well as complete a Phlebotomy Clinical Practicum.
Students who complete this training will be qualified to work in a number of settings including hospital laboratories, clinics, physician offices, private laboratories, blood collection center, home health agencies and insurance agencies.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to take the National Certifying examination to become a licensed Phlebotomist.
Northwest State Community College

The program can be completed in two semesters and is a 30 credit hour program. Ohio Medical Career College

Hands-on training will include techniques to perform butterfly venipuncture, capillary puncture and vacutainer. Courses for this program include anatomy and physiology, the coagulation process, infectious disease and biohazards, universal precaution and infection control and ethical practices.
Those who successfully complete this program will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to take the National Certification Examination for licensure.
Ohio School of Phlebotomy
