Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Program







Location: Asheville (340 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801)

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College offers a Phlebotomy Certificate Program in Asheville, North Carolina.
This is a 12 credit hour program that includes three courses. These courses include a 6 credit Phlebotomy Technology course, a 3 credit Phlebotomy Practicum and a 3 credit Interpersonal Psychology course. Students who enroll in this program will be prepared to collect blood and other specimens as well as transport them and analyze them.
Individuals who are interested in enrolling in this program must be prepared to give immunization records, complete a criminal background check, pass a drug screening, and be CPR certified.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the Board of Certification for Phlebotomy examination. They will then be eligible for Phlebotomy careers in hospitals, clinics, and more.



Brunswick Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Program

Location: Bolivia (50 College Road, Bolivia, NC 28422)

Brunswick Community College, located in Bolivia, North Carolina offers a Phlebotomy Certificate Program. This program is available in both the fall and spring semesters and to those who are at least 18 years old.
The phlebotomy program includes three courses that add up to a total of 12 credit hours. The program can be completed in one semester. The first eight weeks of training including a Phlebotomy Technology course and the second 8 weeks include a Phlebotomy Practicum. Students will also complete a 16 week Life Span Development Psychology course. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 8am – 1:30pm and Thursdays from 8am – 5:30pm.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to take the national certification examination to become a certified Phlebotomist.



Cape Fear Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Cape Fear Community College offers a Phlebotomy Training Program. The college offers programs in the cities of Wilmington, Castle Hayne and Burgaw, North Carolina.
The Phlebotomy program at Cape Fear is a 16 credit program. The total cost of this program is $1,447.50. This price includes tuition, books, uniforms, shoes, a physical, drug screening and a criminal background check. This price is for in-state students. For out-of-state students the total cost is $3,751.50. Only 13 students will be accepted into the program each term, so individuals are encouraged to apply early.
Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination. Once certified as a Phlebotomy Technician, they will be qualified to work in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices and other healthcare settings.



Care One Health Training Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Location: Raleigh (309 Chapanoke Road, Suite 116, Raleigh, NC 27603)

Care One Health Training Institute is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and it offers a Phlebotomy training program.
The Phlebotomy program includes 160 hours of training and can be completed in 10 weeks. Future students may choose to take courses in the day or in the evening. Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Day classes are from 9am – 2pm and evening classes are from 5:30pm – 10pm. Students will also be required to complete an additional clinical once classes are completed. The total cost of this program is $975 which includes tuition, books and registration.
Upon successful completion of this program students will be eligible to obtain the National Credentialing Certificate from the National Phlebotomy Association. The exam cost is an additional $105.



Carolina Allied Health Training Center

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Hybrid Program

Carolina Allied Health Training Center is located in both Durham and Raleigh, North Carolina. This training center offers a Phlebotomy Hybrid Training program that is designed specifically for medical professionals.
Individuals who enroll in this program will complete 20 hours of classroom hands-on training as well as 12 hours of home-study before hands-on training. Courses are offered each month and will last for three days. The cost of this program is $800. Students will be prepared to take the National Certification exam once training is completed. This exam will cost an additional $105.
Topics covered in this course include safety and infection control guidelines, phlebotomy procedures, skin puncture collection, medical terminology, customer services, pediatric and geriatric specialty draws, test tubes/additives, avoiding phlebotomy related lawsuits and more.



Catawba Valley Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Location: Hickory (2550 US Highway 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602)

Catawba Valley Community College, located in Hickory, North Carolina, offers a two month Phlebotomy Program.
Courses for this program are offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 4pm – 9m, Monday and Wednesday from 8:30am – 1:30pm, or Tuesday and Thursday from 8am – 1pm. Once students complete the class and lab components of the program, they will complete a 40 hour/1 week clinical rotation.
Potential students must have a high school diploma or GED. Potential students must also take Pathways to HealthCare and pass the Phlebotomy placement test prior to enrolling in the program.
The costs for this program include a $175 registration fee, textbooks, $15.75 for insurance, an $85 lab fee and $5 for CPR. Students who wish to take the ASPT exam will also pay additional costs.



The College of Albemarle

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

The College of Albemarle offers a 16 week Phlebotomy program that can be completed in one semester. The locations for Phlebotomy training include Elizabeth City, Manteo and Edenton, North Carolina.
The Phlebotomy program includes five courses. Two of these courses are core phlebotomy courses and three of them of are related curriculum courses. The two core courses include Phlebotomy Technology and a Phlebotomy Practicum. The three related courses include Applied Psychology, College Student Successes and Basic PC Literacy.
The program is divided into two, 8 week sessions. The first session includes classroom and lab components while the second session includes a clinical component.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be qualified to work in local hospitals, private healthcare provider offices and public health departments.



The College of Davidson and Davie Counties

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

The College of Davidson and Davie Counties is located in Lexington, North Carolina, and offers a Phlebotomy Program. This program will prepare students to gain successful employment as a phlebotomist.
Individuals who wish to enroll in this phlebotomy program must have a high school diploma or GED, acceptable scores on the college’s placement assessment and good physical health. They also must complete a criminal background check as well as a drug screening.
The 12 credit hour Phlebotomy program is offered in both the spring and fall semesters. The fall program takes place from August to December and the Spring program takes place from January to May. Only 16 students are accepted into each term.
The tuition and fees for this program is $901 plus an additional $200 for books and supplies.



Continual Health Education and Training

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Location: Charlotte (2920 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206)

Continual Health Education and Training is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This education and training center offers a Phlebotomy program that will prepare individuals to work as a Phlebotomist or a Lab Tech. This program will lead to certification and will also qualify students to sit for the A.S.P.T National Exam. Once individuals take and pass the exam, they will be a licensed Phlebotomist. They will then be eligible to work in test laboratories, blood banks, pathology laboratories, research facilities and pharmaceutical firms.
Quizzes and tests will be taken weekly throughout the duration of this program to make sure students are gaining the training, skills and knowledge needed to become an effective Phlebotomist.

Gaston College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Program

Gaston College has locations in Dallas, Lincolnton, and Belmont, North Carolina. At Gaston College students can gain Phlebotomy training that will lead to a certificate in Phlebotomy.
The Phlebotomy program is offered once a year during the spring semester. Students will be trained in the proper ways to collect and handle blood specimens as well as in communication skills and maintaining patient data. As a phlebotomist, individuals will be qualified to work in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices and other health care settings. Students will also be qualified to take the national certification examination to become a licensed Phlebotomist.
This is a 12 credit hour phlebotomy program. Classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday from 8am – 2pm. Students will complete didactic and laboratory training as well as an internship.



Halifax Community College

Halifax Community College is located in Weldon, North Carolina and offers a Phlebotomy training program. This phlebotomy program is offered through the School of Nursing and Allied Health at the College.
Halifax Community College is an accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college is also approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Miller-Motte College conveniently has locations all over North Carolina that offer Phlebotomy-Career Training Programs. These locations include Fayetteville, Greenville, Jacksonville, Raleigh, Wilmington, and Cary.
This program will give students the necessary skills and knowledge needed to collect, handle, transport and analyze blood specimens. These skills will qualify individuals to work in a physician’s office, clinic, laboratory, hospital, specialty practices, health insurance offices and nursing homes. Individuals will also be qualified to take the national certifying exam upon successful completion of the program.
Miller-Motte offers an accelerated program that can be completed in six months. They offer small classes so that students will receive plenty of one-on-one attention and hands-on training. Tuition varies from location to location, so individuals should check with their local Miller-Motte Technical College for specific information.



Nash Community College

This Phlebotomy program will prepare students to collect blood specimens as well as transport them properly and test and analyze them. This program will qualify students to gain employment in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices and other similar healthcare settings. Rockingham Community College

Rockingham Community College is located in Wentworth, North Carolina and offers a thirteen credit hour Phlebotomy Program. This Phlebotomy program at RCC is approved by the NAACLS. To successfully complete the program, students must achieve at least a “C” in all courses. Once the program has been successfully completed students will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination to become a certified phlebotomist.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College offers a Phlebotomy Training Program at several locations throughout North Carolina. These locations include Salisbury, Concord and Kannapolis, with multiple locations in both Concord and Kannapolis.
This Phlebotomy training course includes 185 hours of study that can be divided into 48 hours of lecture and laboratory time as well as 137 hours of clinical training and rotations. Clinical rotations will take place at Northeast Medical Center, Rowan Regional Medical Center, the VA Medical Center, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and Rowan Family Physicians. Topics covered during class include anatomy and physiology, phlebotomist role in the health care system, procedures and responsibilities, routine clinical laboratory tests, various collection techniques and patient characteristics.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be qualified to take the national certification examination.



Southwestern Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Program

Southwest Community College, located in Sylva, North Carolina, offers a twelve credit hour Phlebotomy Certificate Program. This program will prepare individuals to collect blood and other specimens as well as test and analyze those specimens. Course work for this program will include specimen collection and handling, communication skills and maintaining patient data.
This 16 week program can be broken up into 8 weeks of clinical and laboratory time and 8 weeks of a Phlebotomy Practicum.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy Certification Examination that is given by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification. Once individuals receive their Phlebotomy license, they will be qualified to work in hospitals, physician’s offices, and other health care settings.



Wake Technical Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Wake Technical Community College is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and offers a Phlebotomy Program. This Phlebotomy program can be completed in one semester over a 16 week period. The program is offered in both the fall and spring semesters.
Training for this program can be broken up into two, eight week phases. During the first eight weeks, students will gain theory and skills phlebotomy training in the classroom and laboratory setting as well as take a psychology course. The second eight weeks will consist of a clinical rotation at a hospital and clinic setting where students will be supervised by skilled professionals. Wayne Community College

Wayne Community College is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and the college offers a Phlebotomy Certificate program.
