ABC Training Center

Programs Offered: EKG/Phlebotomy Tech Program







Location: Bronx (2471 Morris Avenue, Bronx, NY 10468)

ABC Training Center offers a combined EKG and Phlebotomy Tech program. The center also offers a shortened, EKG-only and Phlebotomy-only program. These programs are offered in the Bronx, New York.
The EKG and Phlebotomy combination program is taken as an eight week course, with classes being held during the week and on Saturdays. The tuition for this course is $1,040.
Students who do not wish to become EKG certified may choose to take the Phlebotomy-only course. This is a four week program that offers courses during the day and evening. Each month courses alternate between the day and evening program, making scheduling easy and convenient to fit students schedules. The tuition for the Phlebotomy Tech program is $625.



ACE Computer Training Center

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician

ACE Computer Training Center offers a Phlebotomy Technician program. This program will prepare individuals to take the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam once they have successfully completed the program. The center has one location in Midtown, Manhattan and one in Forest Hills, Queens.
Topics covered in this program will include Introduction to Phlebotomy, Medical Asepsis, Infection Control, Anticoagulants and the type of tests, Arterial Procedures, Quality Control and Assurance, Assembly of Equipment, Patient Preparation, Methods of Drawing Blood, Safety Procedures, Identifying Types and Structures of Blood Vessels and more.
Students who successfully complete this program will be prepared to work as a Phlebotomy Technician and work in the health care field in a doctor’s office, clinic, laboratory, hospital and more.



American Red Cross

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Course

Location: Manhattan (520 W 49th Street, New York, NY 10019) (Additional locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and Metro NY North area)

The American Red Cross offers a Phlebotomy Technician Course. This course is conveniently available throughout all five boroughs of New York City as well as Long Island and Metro North areas.
The Phlebotomy Technician course at the American Red Cross is a total of 28 hours of training. The course can be broken up into four hour sessions that are taken over a seven week period. Students will receive training through interactive lectures, multimedia presentations, group discussions and activities and hands-on lab practice.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the National Health Career Association Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam.
This program is for both prospective Phlebotomy Technicians as well as individuals already in the health care field.



Big Apple Training

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy/EKG Technician

Big Apple Training is located in The Bronx, New York. This training program offers a combined Phlebotomy/EKG Technician program.
Through this program individuals will gain training in both the EKG and Phlebotomy fields to help broaden their education and their careers in the health services field. They will be eligible to work in laboratories, hospitals, clinics and health departments. Students who successfully complete this program will become both EKG and Phlebotomy certified. Students will have to be prepared to take the proper examinations that will lead to certification.
As a phlebotomist, individuals will be prepared to draw blood, transport the specimens and finally analyze and transfuse them. As an EKG tech, individuals will be prepared to administer cardiovascular tests on patients.



Broome Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate

Broome Community College is located in Binghamton, New York and offers a Phlebotomy program that leads to certification.
This phlebotomy program is designed to train students in such a way that they are immediately ready for entry into a hospital, clinic or physician’s office as a phlebotomist. It is also designed for those who are already in the health care services field, but wish to gain additional training specifically in the field of Phlebotomy. Students who successfully complete this program will be prepared to take the national certification examinations.
The Phlebotomy Certificate program at Broome is a 28 credit hour program that can be completed in two semesters. Students will be trained in didactic and laboratory course work as well as 160 hour clinical experience.



CUNY Borough of Manhattan Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Training

Location: Manhattan (199 Chambers Street, N742, New York, NY 10007)

The Borough of Manhattan Community College offers a Phlebotomy Technician Training program. The college is located in Downtown, Manhattan on Chambers Street.
As a Phlebotomy Technician, individuals will be trained to draw, transport and analyze blood specimens to help detect, diagnose and treat diseases of the patient. Individuals will be prepared to work in doctor’s offices, hospitals, clinics, blood banks and independent laboratories. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to take the National Certification Examination.
The cost of this program is $1500 and it includes not only the tuition, but the cost of the National Certification Exam and internship fees. Students will be required to complete 110 hours of training over a ten week period. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm – 9pm and on Saturday from 9am – 4pm.



Dutchess Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomist Certificate

Location: Poughkeepsie (53 Pendell Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601)

Dutchess Community College, located in Poughkeepsie, New York, offers a Phlebotomy program that can lead to certification.
This program will prepare students to obtain a career as a Phlebotomist/data clerk. Individuals will be prepared to work in outpatient blood drawing centers, clinical laboratories, physician offices or blood donor collection agencies. As a phlebotomist, the individual will primarily draw blood specimens for analyzing and testing. Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to take the national board examinations and will receive a certificate of completion.
The Phlebotomy program is a 27 credit hour program that can be completed in two semesters. Students will complete a phlebotomy internship as well as take classes in Human Biology, Medical Terminology, First Aid, Computer Systems and Applications, A Biomedical View of HIV/AIDS, and more.



Hostos Community College

Programs Offered: Certificate in Phlebotomy Technician

Location: Bronx (500 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10451)

Hostos Community College is located in the Bronx and it offers a Phlebotomy Technician program that will lead to certification.
Tuition for the program at Hostos is $995 and it does not include the cost of books and test fees. Students may choose to take this course as a weekday or weekend course and both courses are a total of 80 hours. The weekday course holds classes Monday and Wednesday from 5pm – 9pm. Students will complete 20 sessions over a two month period. The weekend course holds classes on Saturday from 9am – 2pm. Students will complete 16 sessions over a five month period.
This course is primarily for those who are NYS Certified Nurse Aides, RPN’s, or LPN’s and will help them to help further advance their education and career opportunities.



LaGuardia Community College

Programs Offered: Enhanced Phlebotomy Certificate

LaGuardia Community College offers an Enhanced Phlebotomy Certificate program.
This is a 140 hour program that can be completed over a two month period. Classes for this course are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6pm – 10pm. The total tuition for this program is $1200. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the national phlebotomy technician exam to become certified phlebotomists.
During this course students will gain knowledge and understanding in the anatomy and physiology of the venous system to help them prepare for training in the practice and procedures of phlebotomy. This course will include topics such as blood collection techniques, universal precautions, using syringes and butterfly needles, urinalysis, spirometry, blood typing and more.



The Manhattan Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Location: Manhattan (255 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016)

The Manhattan Institute offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program. This Phlebotomy Technician Program will lead to a diploma and will prepare students to work in a hospital, laboratory, medical office, doctor’s office, home health agency, research clinic or blood bank as a Phlebotomist.
Through training at the Manhattan Institute, students will gain a thorough understanding on topics such as drawing blood, assembling equipment, verifying records, labeling, interviewing and analyzing data results.
Students may choose to take this program as an evening, day or weekend course. Courses are four weeks long and begin on several dates throughout the year. Day classes are held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, evening classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and weekend classes are held on Saturday and Sunday.



Micropower Career Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician

Micropower Career Institute offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program. The Institute conveniently has locations in Manhattan, Long Island, Queens and Hauppauge. Upon successful completion of this program students will be prepared to take the NHA certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
Once certified, individuals will be enabled to specialize in collecting blood specimens on both children and adults. As a phlebotomist you will collect blood specimens, safely transport them to a laboratory and prepare them for testing and analysis.
The Phlebotomy program at Micropower Career Institute is a six week program. Students may choose to take this course during the morning, afternoon or evening. The Institute does not require that you have any prior computer knowledge and they offer small class sizes and free exam preparation.



New York Medical Career Training Center

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician

The New York Medical Career Training Center is located in Flushing, New York. This training center offers a Phlebotomy Technician program. The program is available for those already in the health care field as well as for those who need the initial training to become a phlebotomy technician.
The Phlebotomy Technician program at the New York Medical Career Training Institute is a 36 hour program that will enable students to become certified Phlebotomists.
Students will be trained in vacuum method for venous blood withdrawal and autolet blood withdrawal for testing glucose levels. Students will also gain the skills and knowledge needed to properly use a hemogloginometer to obtain hemoglobin levels. Students will be prepared to identify and label laboratory equipment, blood specimens and perform other lab procedures.



Niagara County Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomist Certificate

Location: Sanborn (3111 Saunders Settlement Rd., Sanborn, NY 14132)

Niagara County Community College is located in Sanborn, New York and offers a Phlebotomist program that will lead to certification.
This program will include both classroom instruction as well as a clinical practicum. This practicum will take place in a hospital, diagnostic laboratory, blood bank or medical office. Classroom instruction will include human anatomy and physiology, phlebotomy, medical ethics, OSHA regulations, patient communication, medical terminology and patient care. Students will be required to complete at least 30 credit hours. Typically the program is completed in two semesters.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will earn a certificate in Phlebotomy and will be prepared to collect blood samples through venipunctures, capillary punctures, skin sticks, and arterial punctures as well as properly transport and analyze the samples.



Noyes Health

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Training

Location: Dansville (111 Clara Barton Street, Dansville, NY 14437)

Noyes Health, located in Dansville, New York, offers a Phlebotomy Training program.
This is an extensive NAACLS-certified program that will prepare students with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to collect, transport and analyze blood samples. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the national certifying examination of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for phlebotomy technicians. They will also receive a certificate of completion.
The tuition for this program is $700. The program is broken up into 100 hours of lecture time and 256 hours of clinical experience. During the clinical experience students will work one-on-one with a clinical faculty member.
The Phlebotomy program is a full-time program and is completed over a ten week period.



Stony Brook University

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Training Program

Location: Stony Brook (100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11794)

Stony Brook University offers a Phlebotomy Training Program in Stony Brook, New York. This Phlebotomy program is accredited through The American Society for Phlebotomy Technicians. To enroll in this program, individuals must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
During this program, individuals will be trained in the proper procedures of collecting, transporting and analyzing blood specimens as well as how to operate the proper equipment.
The tuition for this program is $1200. It is a four unit program that is completed over a two month period. Students will participate in 60 hours of phlebotomy lecture, 30 hours of laboratory practice and 100-120 hours of a clinical rotation.



SUNY Jefferson Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in Phlebotomy

Location: Watertown (1220 Coffeen Street, Watertown, NY 13601)

Jefferson Community College is a part of the SUNY school system in New York and is located in Watertown. This community college offers a Phlebotomy program that will lead to a certificate of completion. Upon successful completion of the program, students will also be eligible to sit for the national examination to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
This program can be completed in less than two months and it includes 88 hours of training. Training will include 48 hours of classroom training as well as a 40 hour externship. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm to 9:30pm.
The total cost of this program is $2995, which includes tuition, books, course supplies, the externship and the course certificate of completion.



SUNY Orange County Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Location: Middletown (115 South Street, Middletown, NY 10940)

SUNY Orange is located in Middletown, New York. This college offers a Phlebotomy course that is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. To enroll in this program students must attend a pre-admissions orientation, have a high school diploma or GED, complete a physical exam and provide proof of immunizations, and pass a drug screening.
The Phlebotomy program at SUNY Orange is a seven credit program that can be completed over the course of 16 weeks. Students will complete 210 hours of training that will include topics such as drawing and handling blood, approved methods and safety, medical terminology, anatomy and laboratory procedures. The cost of this program is $1000.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination.



SUNY Rockland Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Location: Suffern (145 College Road, Suffern, NY 10901)

Rockland Community College is a part of the SUNY school system. The college is located in Suffern, New York and it offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program.
This Phlebotomy Technician Program is a 90 hour program that will prepare individuals to collect, transport and analyze blood specimens from patients. Students will learn the safe and proper procedures for performing venipuncture. This program will include both didactic and lab training. Courses will include terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedure, specimen hands-on practice and techniques to perform puncture methods. This program does not include an externship.
Students can complete training in about two months, which consists of 24 sessions. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday from 6pm – 9:30 pm and Saturday from 9am – 3pm. The total cost of this program is $1599.



Westchester Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy I & II Programs

Location: Valhalla (75 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, NY 10595)

Westchester Community College is located in Valhalla, New York. The college offers a Phlebotomy I & II program that can lead to certification.
Phlebotomy I training will introduce students to the basic concepts and knowledge needed to obtain blood from patients’ veins and capillaries. Students will also be introduced to the proper use of equipment and blood tubes. This courses costs $305 and classes are held during the weekend from 9am – 3pm.
Phlebotomy II training will give students a deeper and more thorough understanding and knowledge of how to obtain blood specimens. This program is $305 and classes are held during the weekend from 9am – 3pm.
Students who successfully complete this program will be prepared to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Tech Examination that is offered by the NHA.



York College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

Location: Jamaica (94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11451)

York College is located in Jamaica, Queens and offers a Phlebotomy program. This phlebotomy program will prepare individuals to collect, transport and analyze blood specimens and other specimens.
York College’s Phlebotomy program is a nine week program that holds classes one day a week for three hours. Topics discussed during the didactic portion of this program will include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, the circulatory system, blood collection, venipuncture, arterial specimen, computers and specimens.
Not only will students participate in didactic training but they will also participate in supervised laboratory experiences. In the lab they will practice drawing blood on mannequin arms.
Upon successful completion of this program students will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certification examination.
