Advantage Career Institute, located in Eatontown, New Jersey offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program.
This program combines classroom instruction and clinical education to prepare the student with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary and expected for a phlebotomist. Training will enable individuals to obtain blood specimens through venipuncture and micro techniques as well as cover subjects such as anatomy and physiology, laboratory testing, documentation of patient records and more.
The phlebotomy program can be broken up into four phases that include Introduction to Clinical Phlebotomy, Principle of Infection Control, Clinical Competencies and Diagnostic Procedures and Medical Laboratory. Once students have successfully completed this program they will be able to perform basic phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture, strait needle and winged infusion.



American Institute of Medical Sciences & Education

Programs Offered: Electrocardiography/Phlebotomy Technician

The American Institute of Medical Sciences & Education, located in Piscataway, New Jersey offers a combined Electrocardiography and Phlebotomy Technician Program. This program will prepare individuals to work as entry-level technicians in the Allied Health and Medical Services field.
This program includes 160 hours of didactic and clinical components. Students will earn a total of 5.3 credit hours that can be put towards a degree. For the convenience of the individual, students may choose to take either day or evening classes to complete the program as smoothly as possible.
All that is required for students to apply and enroll in this program is to have a high school diploma or GED and a desire to work alongside doctors and nurses as a phlebotomist.



AMG Medical Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician

AMG Medical Institute, located in Paterson, New Jersey offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program. This program will prepare students to obtain the necessary skills they need for working as a professional Phlebotomist. These skills will include collecting blood specimens by either venipuncture or dermal puncture. Other skills will include testing and analyzing the specimens, properly labeling and handling them and transporting them.
Students who wish to enroll in this program should expect to complete 205 hours of phlebotomy training. This training will include 125 hours in the classroom and 80 hours in an internship. Students may conveniently choose to take classes during the day, evening or weekends.
Once students have successfully completed this program, they will be eligible to take the National Certification examination to become a Phlebotomy Technician in the state of New Jersey.



AVTECH Institute of Technology

AVTECH Institute of Technology has several locations throughout New Jersey that offer a Certified Phlebotomy Technician program. These locations include South Plainfield, Fairfield and Eatontown.
This phlebotomy program includes 200 hours of training which can be split up into two phases.
The first phase includes classroom instruction which covers medical terminology and the structure, physiology and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system.
The second component will prepare students to work in a doctor’s office, clinical setting or hospital as a phlebotomy technician. These two components of phlebotomy training will prepare students to work at the entry-level as a phlebotomist.
Individuals who are considering enrolling in this program must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and complete a background check.



Best Care Training Institute

Best Care Training Institute, located in East Orange, New Jersey, offers a phlebotomy program that will prepare students to work alongside a nurse as a certified phlebotomist.
This program is a total of 80 hours of training. Students will gain 50 hours of classroom instruction as well as 30 hours of both a clinical and lab component. Students will be trained in the proper ways, skills and techniques that are needed to draw blood specimens, transport them and, finally, analyze and test them.
Courses for this program are held in the mornings and evenings for the convenience of the student. The total cost of this program is $960 which includes tuition, registration fees, books, and other miscellaneous fees.



Bloomfield College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Location: Bloomfield (467 Franklin Street, Bloomfield, NJ 07003)

Located in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Bloomfield College offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program for the aspiring phlebotomist. This program includes 90 hours of training to prepare students to properly collect, transport, test and analyze blood specimens, while working alongside doctors and nurses.
During the lab component of the program, students will specifically be trained on the techniques and skills needed to safely perform venipuncture as well as how to properly collect blood. During classroom instruction, they will learn the proper medical terminology used in the hospital setting as well as basic anatomy and physiology.
The total cost for this program is $1599, which includes tuition, fees and textbooks. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm – 9:30pm and on Saturdays from 9am – 3pm.



Branford Institute

Programs Offered: EKG/Phlebotomy Technician Program

Location: Elizabeth (570 North Broad Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07208); Paterson (302 Main Street, Paterson, NJ 07505)

Branford Institute offers an EKG/Phlebotomy combination program. The location for this program is in Elizabeth and Paterson, New Jersey.
This program can be completed in 4 weeks is a total of 200 hours to complete. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to become registered and certified phlebotomy technicians. Once the program is completed, students may also choose to go to a non-mandatory internship to gain extra experience and training. This internship can be completed in a clinic, doctor’s office, hospital or laboratory. During training, students will learn to accurately draw blood as well as handle and transport it to the laboratory. Other skills that will be acquired include front office responsibilities, inputting information in the computer data base, download and print out lab results and more.



Brookdale Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Certification

Brookdale Community College is located in Lincroft, New Jersey and offers a Phlebotomy Technician Certification. This is a 148 hour program that can be broken up that can be broken up into didactic and clinical training. Students will complete hours in the classroom, including lectures and laboratory practice, as well as 100 clinical hours. Through training, students will be prepared to collect blood samples to test and analyze them. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists national certification examination.
To enroll in this program, individuals must have a high school diploma or GED, complete a physical exam and have documentation of immunizations, and clear a background check. This program costs $1495.



Healthcare Training Institute

Programs Offered: EKG/Phlebotomy Technician

The Healthcare Training Institute is located in Union, New Jersey and offers an EKG/Phlebotomy Technician Program.
This program is made up of 120 hours and can be broken up into three phases. The first phase includes 20 hours of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology. The second phase includes 59 hours of Phlebotomy training and the third phase includes 41 hours of EKG training.
Classes for this program can be taken during the day, evening or weekend, making the program convenient for students to take. Day classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:15am to 2:45pm. Evening classes are held on Monday through Thursday from 6pm to 9:30pm. Evening classes are held from 9am until 2pm.
Successful completion of this program will allow students to perform entry level work as an EKG technician or a Phlebotomist.



The Institute for Health Education

The Institute for Health Education is located in Jersey City, New Jersey and offers a Phlebotomy Program. Upon successful completion of this program, individuals will be prepared to work as an entry level Phlebotomist in a medical or laboratory setting.
Training for this program includes a combination of instruction lecture classes as well as practice classes in a school laboratory. Students will train on practice arms for venipuncture with needles, syringes and tubes. Moe Shea Corporation

Programs Offered: Certified EKG/Phlebotomy Tech

Location: Bordentown (Three 3rd Street, Bordentown, NJ 08505)

The Moe Shea Corporation is located in Bordentown, New Jersey and offers a Certified EKG/Phlebotomy program. This is a 200 hour program that can be completed in 4-11 weeks. The total cost of this program is $3,126.
The EKG/Phlebotomy program will prepare students to work as either EKG Technicians or Phlebotomy Technicians. Students will be trained in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical abbreviations as well as complete several hours of additional training in the laboratory. In the lab, training includes instruction on the use of the EKG machine, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. Successful completion of this program will allow students to sit for the examination that leads to certification and will then be eligible to work in hospitals, clinical laboratories, private office settings, blood donor centers and other clinical settings.



NJ Phlebotomy

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certification

Location: Garfield (113 Dewitt Street, Garfield, NJ 07026)

NJ Phlebotomy is located in Garfield, New Jersey and it offers a Phlebotomy program that can lead to certification. This Phlebotomy program is a National Certification course.
Those who wish to enroll in this program can start it at one of two times during the year and can complete it in six months. Training for this program is held every Saturday for eight hours. Students can set up financial installment plans to help with paying off tuition.
This 200 hour program will cover Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, General Blood Collection, Skin Punctures, Legal Aspects and much more. Along with classroom instruction, students will also complete several hours of laboratory training.
Students who successfully complete this program will be prepared to draw blood for analysis, diagnosis and testing.



New Jersey Institute of Allied Health

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Program

The New Jersey Institute of Allied Health is located in Elizabeth, New Jersey. This Allied Health institute offers a Phlebotomy program that will lead to certification.
Students who participate in this program will be prepared to properly work with certain medical equipment that will allow them to draw blood as wells as test and analyze the results. They will then be enabled to interpret the laboratory results. Venipuncture, dermal puncture and transportation of specimens are all included in this training program.
This program provides classes four days per week for 5 weeks. Each class is five hours long and students will complete a total of 100 hours of training.



Ocean County College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Training


Location: Toms River (College Drive, Toms River, NJ 08754)

Ocean County College offers a Phlebotomy Technician Training program. The school is located in Toms River, New Jersey. Through this program, students will take courses that include anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, blood collection equipment and procedures, capillary procedures and interpersonal relations. The cost of this program is $2,275. Students must also be prepared to purchase the textbook at $44.95 and clear a criminal background check.
This program includes both didactic and lab components as well as a clinical component. Didactic and lab training are completed over a two month period. Students will complete 19 4-hour sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. The clinical component lasts one week, is 4 hours per day and is a total of 30 sessions that are held Monday through Friday.



Salem County Educational Technology Training Center

Programs Offered: Certified Phlebotomy Technician

Location: Woodstown (Route 45, Woodstown, NJ 08098)

Salem County Educational Technology Training Center offers a Phlebotomy Technician program that leads to certification. This program is located in Woodstown, New Jersey. Through training, students will be prepared to collect, handle, transport and process blood specimens. They will be eligible to work in hospital and commercial laboratories, clinics, medical offices, blood banks and other similar places.
Students will be trained through classroom instruction and labs. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians examination to become a Certified Phlebotomist.
The tuition for this program is $875 which does not include textbooks, uniforms or examination fees. Classes begin in January and April and are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm – 8:30 pm.



Sussex County Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Location: Newton (One College Hill Road, Newton, NJ 07860)

Sussex County Community College is located in Newton, New Jersey and offers a Phlebotomy Technician program. This program allows students to start courses in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. It is a 15 week program that can be completed in one semester. Students will complete 170 hours of training to become a certified Phlebotomy Technician. These hours can be broken up into 120 hours of didactic and lab training as well as 50 hours of a practicum. Students will be trained in theoretical and clinical practices.
upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination that is offered by the American Medical Technologists to gain certification in Phlebotomy.



University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy & Specimen Accessioning Certificate Program

Location: Newark (65 Bergen Street, Newark, NJ 07107)

The University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey offers a Phlebotomy & Specimen Accessioning Certificate Program. This program is located in Newark, New Jersey.
The initial stage of this program includes theory and laboratory practice that will cover specimen collection, processing and storage, laboratory safety, anatomy and physiology of body systems and legal issues. The second and final stage of this program includes practice on mannequin arms and electronic devices. It also includes a 120 hour clinical rotation that will cover venipunctures and capillary punctures. This clinical rotation is a mandatory, two week, full-time rotation.
Those who successfully complete this program will be prepared to work in hospitals, laboratories, clinics and physician’s offices.
This program costs $1100 and can be completed in three months.



Warren County Community College

Programs Offered: Certified Phlebotomy Technician

Location: Washington (475 Route 57 West, Washington, NJ 07882)

Warren County Community College is located in Washington, New Jersey and offers a Phlebotomy Technician program that leads to certification.
The Certified Phlebotomy Technician program is a 170 hour program that includes 90 hours of classroom instruction time, 30 hours of simulated lab and a 50 hour externship. Students will gain training in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, blood collection, specimen transport & processing, infection control & safety, quality control, confidentiality and communication skills. The externship is completed at Hackettstown/Warren Hospital. During the externship, students must complete a minimum of 75 venipunctures.
This program costs $959 plus the cost of the textbook. Potential students must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED and complete a physical exam.
