Central Maine Community College offers a phlebotomy training program that is designed to provide students with the skill set that they will need to seek employment in the medical field. The curriculum utilizes lecture, lab, and hands-on practice to provide students with a thorough understanding of phlebotomy and its practice.

Coursework includes: collecting specimens, selecting and preparing the skin puncture site, adhering to the proper health and safety guidelines, patient/technician relationship, and more. Upon the successful completion of this course, graduates will qualify to find entry-level employment in the healthcare industry.

Crooked River Adult and Community Education Center

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

At Crooked River Adult and Community Education Center, students can train to become entry-level medical professionals. The tuition of this program is $795.00 and any upcoming schedules can be accessed on the school site. The curriculum includes medical terminology, blood collection, procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and more.

In order to apply, students must have a high school diploma or GED and they must produce documentation of a recent medical physical, in addition to having proof that they received the required vaccinations. The mandated vaccinations include Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Varicella, and TB. Students will be required to go into the office to do entrance testing, and you can find the necessary contact information on the school site. Class size is limited so keep this in mind when you begin the admissions process.



Eastern Maine Community College

Programs Offered: Introduction to Phlebotomy

Eastern Maine Community College has a phlebotomy training program that can be completed in only 56 hours. 40 of these hours are spent in the classroom, and the remaining 16 hours are spent in the clinical. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-8pm (for 10 weeks) so please ensure that your availability would allow for evening classes. The clinical will take place on two consecutive 8-hour long days.

The tuition of this training is $545.00 plus the following additional costs: $12.90 Liability Insurance Fee, $90.00-$95.00 for the textbook, and any costs associated with the immunizations that students must get will be the student’s responsibility.

Helping Hands Trade School

Helping Hands Trade School offers two separate phlebotomy training options that can help students prepare for a career in the healthcare industry. The first option is called “Phlebotomy Basic” and it consists of 94 hours of training. The curriculum covers topics such as: performing venipuncture and capillary puncture, infection control and safety procedures, basic anatomy and physiology, and more. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and they must have a health assessment. The tuition of this option is $1,200.00.

The second option is entitled “Phlebotomy Advanced” and it consists of 150 hours of training. Students will receive training in a wide variety of topics that will be needed in the field, but in this option, students will spend 100 hours in their clinical. The tuition for this choice totals $1,600.00.



Kennebec Valley Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Training Program

At Kennebec Valley Community College, students can receive the training that they will need to pursue a career in the medical field. Upon the successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate from Kennebec Valley Community College, and in addition, they will become eligible to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry Exam.

Applicants must complete the required proof of immunization form, and they must have a valid Healthcare Provider CPR card prior to beginning the clinical. The entire program consists of 21 credit hours and students must receive a minimum grade of “C” in all courses, and they must maintain a final GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate. The clinical rotations consist of up to fifteen 8-hour days so please ensure that your availability would be able to accommodate the full days.



Northeast Technical Institute

Northeast Technical Institute offers a phlebotomy/EKG training program that is designed to provide students with a diverse skill set that can help them to qualify for entry-level employment in the healthcare industry. This institution offers both a part-time and full-time training option so students can decide which option best suits their schedules and availability.

In addition, the curriculum includes hands-on training in a simulated lab setting that can help students feel confident while they apply the skills that they have learned in a realistic setting. This option also offers FLEX-TRAIN which allows students to work at their own pace, and to customize the program to fit their own lives and schedules. This training can be completed in less than 8 weeks if you choose, so it can be effective for those that need a short term training program.



Van Buren Adult and Community Education

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

Van Buren Adult and Community Education offers a phlebotomy training program that consists of 90 hours, and is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the healthcare industry. The program is given over 15 weeks and classes are scheduled for one day a week from 3:00pm-9:30pm so please ensure that your availability can allow for this schedule.

The classroom and lab work includes terminology, procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and more. This diverse approach is in place to provide students with a thorough understanding of phlebotomy and its practice. The tuition of this option totals $1,599.00, and the textbooks are included in this price. York County Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Training Program

At York County Community College, students can train to become entry-level medical professionals. The program is offered every Tuesday from 4pm-9pm for twelve weeks.

In order to apply, students must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, students must have the ability to read and write English, and for this reason, there is a required entry exam that applicants must take and do well on. Ensure that you have all of the necessary immunizations and record of them when you apply to the program. In addition to the $895.00 tuition, students will be responsible to pay for and obtain the textbooks and uniform. There is a payment plan available for students that are interested, and this consists of 4 installments plus a $50.00 installment payment plan fee which makes the total cost $945.00.
