Emily Griffith Technical College offers phlebotomy training classes that meet on different schedules to accommodate any interested students. Daytime classes and evening classes are available, and students can check the schedule of upcoming classes online to see when they can take the first step towards a new career in health care.
The class includes an in class theory component and hands on clinical training. Students who are enrolled in this course will learn about venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques.
In order to enroll, students must have a high school diploma or GED, a negative TB test, a complete series of Hep B vaccinations, other vaccinations and health requirements, a background check, and CPR certification.



Phlebotomy Learning Center of Denver

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certification Program

The phlebotomy course offered by the Phlebotomy Learning Center of Denver is an eleven-week-long course. The course meets once each week for 4.5 hours for the first ten weeks. The final week is spent at a clinical internship that is required of all students.
The training that students will receive during the first ten weeks is a mix of theoretical instruction and hands on laboratory practice. Some of the topics that will be covered in this course include the history of phlebotomy, quality assurance, legal issues, infection control, safety, basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection equipment, specimen collection, specimen transport, specific testing, and much more.
In order to obtain certification, students must pass two written exams, complete all homework, pass a practical exam, complete their externship and file all necessary paperwork.
The total cost of this program is $1595.



Pima Medical Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Pima Medical Institute offers a comprehensive phlebotomy technician training program at their Denver, CO campus.
This course includes 70 hours of classroom instruction, 70 hours of laboratory training, and a 160 hour long externship that is to be completed at a local health care facility. The courses that are included in this program include Study Skills, CPR and First Aid, Anatomy and Physiology/ Medical Terminology, Introduction to Laboratory and Communication, Phlebotomy, and the clinical externship.
This program runs over the course of approximately three months. Once students complete the course and successfully become certified as phlebotomists, they can work in a variety of medical settings including hospitals, doctors’ offices, and independent laboratories.



Stillwater College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Program

Stillwater College of Allied Health offers a phlebotomy technician training program that takes about three months to complete.
This course can be completed with a morning, evening, or weekend schedule. Morning classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 2 pm. Evening classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 9 am. Weekend classes meet on Saturdays only from 9 am until 3 pm.
In this course, students will learn how to collect timed specimens, document their collections and specimens, follow laboratory procedures including paperwork and safety procedures, process and order supplies, clean the phlebotomy area, file and chart their collections, and deal with possible hazards.
This course includes in class learning, laboratory skills practice, and 50 hours at a clinical externship.
