Erie 1 BOCES offers a program of phlebotomy training.

The 200-hour course is composed of 75 hours of classroom instruction and 125 hours of clinical practice. Topics covered include techniques and procedures of drawing blood, finger sticks, other specimen collection, infection control and safety procedure, quality assurance, and more.

Founded in 1957, Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) is a collaboration of local school districts to deliver quality education programs more efficiently.

Trocaire College's Office of Workforce Development, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning offers a program of phlebotomy technician training.

The 10-week course is composed of classroom instruction and hands-on lab experiences. Three weeks of clinical practice at a local hospital or lab are also required.

The course covers topics like fundamental anatomy and physiology, collection, transport, and processing of specimen, infection control, safety procedure, lab testing, quality control, and more.

After completing the course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Certifying Exam.
