Bunker Hill Community College offers a Phlebotomy Technician training program that consists of one semester of classroom and lab study and a clinical externship.
The courses that are required for students in this program include Phlebotomy theory and lab, communication skills for health care, a computer or office administration course, and medical terminology. After these courses have been completed, students may enroll in the practicum for Phlebotomy technicians and the allied health practicum seminar.
Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to take the certification exam and become certified as Phlebotomy Technicians. Phlebotomy Technicians can work in hospitals, doctors’ offices, labs, blood donation centers and other medical settings.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital offers a Clinical Skills and Phlebotomy Trainings program in partnership with the BWH Department of Nursing Center for Nursing Excellence. Students do not need to have previous experience in order to enroll in this program.
