Arizona College offers a two-quarter phlebotomy diploma program that is designed to provide students with the skills that they will need to pursue a career in phlebotomy. Each quarter is ten weeks divided into two five-week sessions, and after completing this on-campus portion, students must complete five weeks (200 hours) of clinical experience off-campus.

Some of the courses included in this curriculum are: clinical office procedures, specialized body systems, laboratory sciences, the body as a whole etc. This diverse training is in place to provide students with the numerous skills that they will need to seek employment in the healthcare industry. Additionally, this school offers flexible morning and evening class schedules for those that would like to attend school but struggle with time constraints.



Arizona Medical Training Institute

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

The phlebotomy technician program offered here begins with an eLearning portion that must be completed before the on-campus portion of training begins. Upon beginning the on-campus portion, you can choose between daytime or evening classes. The on-campus portion lasts for a (4) four week period and after completion, students must complete the mandated clinical experience that can be completed at various designated clinical sites. During this clinical period, students must complete 100 hours of practicum and achieve a minimum of 120 collections.

The course tuition is $1,800 and can be paid off in full, or you can choose to pay it off in increments over the span of 3 or 6 months. The list of prerequisites that you must complete before applying can be accessed on the program’s homepage.



Cactus Wren Training

In order to apply for the phlebotomy training program at Cactus Wren, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, immunization records, drug testing, taken a TB Test or chest X-ray within the past six (6) months, have recent Hepatitis B vaccinations, and more. Classes start the first Monday of every month and classroom hours occur Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There are forty (40) classroom clock hours that you must complete, and in addition to the classroom hours, there are 100 mandated clinical hours during which time you must obtain 100 successful sticks. The classroom hours must be completed in the morning, so please ensure that your schedule can allow for this.

The tuition of this program is $1,740.00 which includes a uniform, fingerprinting application, TB testing, CPR/First Aid training, and of course, phlebotomy training.



Central Arizona College

Central Arizona College offers a phlebotomy training program that can provide students with the skill set that they will need to pursue a career as a phlebotomist. In order to apply, applicants must have a high school diploma/GED, immunizations, pass a background check and drug test, and they must pass a reading test.

This training consists of an eight week didactic/classroom portion as well as an eight week clinical/practicum program. This diverse curriculum can provide students with the knowledge they will need, as well as the skill set that they will need to work in a medical facility. Additionally, students must complete 100 successful venipunctures, have 180 hours of externship, observe a blood gas with respiratory therapy, and complete 10 successful dermal punctures.



Coconino Community College

The program offered at Coconino Community College consists of a mandated 28 required hours. There is a required placement test and/or prerequisite required, and the curriculum should take approximately 1.5 years to complete.

Some of the courses that are included in the curriculum include: computer literacy, medical terminology, health care ethics and law, and more. This diverse knowledge is in place to provide students with the numerous skills that will be required as graduates pursue employment in the healthcare industry. While enrolled in this program, you will learn the safety procedures needed while handling different specimens, and you will also learn about infection control. These skills enable students to safely handle specimens and interact with patients.

The tuition of this program is $2,040 plus some additional fees (books and supplies, room and board if necessary).



East Valley Institute of Technology

At the East Valley Institute of Technology, you can receive the training that will be necessary to pursue a career as a phlebotomist. In order to apply you must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, you must have completed a TB skin test.

The training lasts for 12 weeks (144 total hours with externship), and classes are given Monday through Thursday (evening classes) with a curriculum designed to provide students with the diverse skill set that will be required to find employment in the healthcare industry.

Upon completing this program, graduates should be prepared to collect blood samples from patients, and produce reliable test screenings. Additionally, individuals that complete this training should have the knowledge necessary to pass the National Certification Exam.



East Valley Institute of Technology

Estrella Mountain Community College

Estrella Mountain Community College offers a training program that prepares students to correctly and safely obtain blood specimens, as well as other bodily fluids. In addition, this curriculum also teaches students computer skills, some medical coding, and how to interact with fellow future employees and patients.

You can successfully complete this program in as little as 14 weeks and upon successfully completing the curriculum, graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion. In order to apply, you must be at least seventeen and a half years old, have a high school diploma/GED, pass assessment testing and be willing to pay the tuition/fees which cost upward of $2,000.

This option utilizes a variety of classroom curriculum, as well as clinical experience. By practicing phlebotomy in the different settings, students can enter the workforce feeling prepared and knowledgeable.



Northland Pioneer College

Northland Pioneer College has a four-credit hour course that is designed to prepare students for a career in phlebotomy. The course is entitled HES 109 Phlebotomy has three (3) hours per week devoted to lecture and three (3) hours of lab class. The curriculum is aimed towards training students in both the practice of phlebotomy and in the act of specimen processing.

In addition, students will also participate in internships at local labs which provide additional practice and give them a chance to apply the skills that they have learned in the classroom, in a real medical environment.

After completing the course, graduates are presented with a certificate of completion that indicates the number of successful phlebotomy procedures that have been completed. Additionally, after completing training, students may be eligible to become a Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT).



Phlebotomy Services

In order to sign up for this training program you must have either a high school diploma or a GED. The curriculum is enacted throughout three days. The first two days of this training are on the internet only. There will be lessons and quizzes that must be completed before attending the third day of training, which is a hands-on training day and will be held at a designated training facility. Upon successfully completing training, you will receive a certificate of completion that can be printed out for your records, interviews etc.

The curriculum of this training includes basic medical terminology, special procedures, methods to deal with difficult patients, and much more.

Phoenix College

The curriculum of the program offered here is designed to provide students with the skill set that they will need to obtain blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture on children, adults, and infants. In addition to teaching the proper techniques to utilize while obtaining samples, students will also learn how to handle these specimens safely and correctly.

To successfully complete the training, you must successfully finish 4 credits of prerequisite classes and 4.5 credits of program classes for a total of 8.5 credits. In addition, students must also complete 120 hours of clinical experience after they’ve finished training.

This program costs approximately $800, which includes all course, lab fees, and clinical experience. The textbook will cost you an additional $70 and if the prerequisites are also taken, there will be an additional $150 in textbook fees.



Pima Community College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Certificate Program

At Pima Community College, you can receive a Certificate in Phlebotomy in as little as 12-14 credits. In order to be accepted into the program, students must take the Accuplacer exam and receive the minimum scores that are listed on the college’s site. Once accepted, students can complete this program on weekdays or exclusively on evenings/weekends. This option can be helpful for those with limited time.

The curriculum is provided through 12-14 credits of required core courses. The courses include: safety standards in phlebotomy, phlebotomy laboratory practice, a clinical internship in phlebotomy, and more. These classes are in place to provide students with the diverse knowledge that they will need to pursue a career in the medical field. Upon successfully completing the program, students may be eligible to take the National Certification Exam.



Pima Medical Institute

Pima Medical Institute offers their Phlebotomy Technician Program at three different locations in Arizona, and can help you learn the numerous skills that will be needed to seek employment in the healthcare industry. The curriculum of this option focuses on teaching students how to obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection techniques. Additionally, you will learn how to properly collect and process other specimens.

The program can be completed in approximately three months, and is a total of ten (10) credits. Some of the courses included are: CPR and First Aid, Anatomy and Physiology/Medical Terminology, Phlebotomy, and an Externship. Successfully completing this program can be helpful in obtaining employment as a phlebotomist, or in preparing you to pursue more advanced careers in medicine.



Southwest Phlebotomy Certifications L.L.C.

This training program is designed to provide individuals with the skills that will be necessary to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. Additionally, this training can also be used for those who already work in the medical field and would like to improve their capabilities. Due to the fact that this training program travels, you may want to check the site to view an upcoming schedule to see when they will be in Arizona.

This curriculum includes hands-on experience as well as some lecture-style information sessions. Topics such as OSHA regulations, basic venous anatomy, hazards, and training in bloodborn pathogens are covered. The hands-on training includes syringe practice, using butterfly needles, and a vacutainer. This one day training experience can provide students with the skill set needed to practice phlebotomy, both safely and successfully.



Tucson College

Tucson College offers a training program that is designed to provide students with the skills that they will need to pursue a career as an entry level phlebotomy technician. The tuition and fees associated with this course total $3,680.00. This total cost includes textbooks and supplies, and the school does not offer on-campus room and board.

The curriculum includes topics such as: the proper techniques for handling and collecting specimens, laboratory testing, special collections, and it reviews material that may be covered in the certification exam. Upon completing this program successfully, graduates should be prepared to take and pass the certification exam, thereby enabling them to gain an entry level position in the medical field. This program is approved by the Arizona State Board for Postsecondary Education.



Yavapai College

Programs Offered: Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program

At Yavapai College you can receive a Certificate in Phlebotomy after completing only 9 credits. Upon the successful completion of this curriculum, students will be eligible to take the national phlebotomy certification exam, which can improve one’s chances of obtaining employment as an entry-level phlebotomist.

This training option will teach students how to safely collect and process specimens, how to manage medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations, and how to perform phlebotomy in an active medical environment. The following courses are mandated for the successful completion of training: Fundamentals of Health Care, Phlebotomy, and an Internship. This certificate program is not eligible for financial aid, so if you must have all fees covered, this may not be an ideal option for you.
